Homemade Spice Mixes
Hey everyone. Recently on my Instagram, I shared a couple of spice mixes that I love to keep around my busy kitchen. Feeding a family of 6 plant-based food usually always has me running out of something. That's where my spice mixes really pay off. I can "fudge" specific ingredients with a good spice mix, many times creating something even better!
That got me to thinking about the times that I ran out of specific spice mixes and had to create some of my own from what I had around. Not everyone knows how to season for a spicy dish or create taco seasoning off the top of their head.
I want to share with everyone a couple of my homemade spice mixes that not only save money but I think taste even better than store bought. These are just bases so get creative!

Homemade Cajun Seasoning
1 small mason jar with lid
3 Tablespoons Paprika
2 Tablespoons Salt
2 Tablespoons Garlic Powder
2 Tablespoons Black Pepper (or one of black and one of white or rainbow)
1 Tablespoon Onion powder
1 Tablespoon dried Oregano
1 Tablespoon Cayenne
1/2 Tablespoon dried Thyme
Put all ingredients in jar.
Close lid super tight!
Shake until combined well.
Use as you will, like a boss!
Homemade Taco Seasoning
4 Tablespoons Chili Powder
2 Tablespoons Cumin
1 Tablespoon Paprika
1 Tablespoon Salt
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1 tsp. dried Onion
1 tsp. Oregano
1 tsp. Black Pepper
1 tsp. cornstarch (optional)
Put all ingredients in jar.
Close lid super tight!
Shake until combined well.
Use as you will, like a boss!
For an extra touch, don't forget to add intention as you add each ingredient to the jar and shake. Mind your thoughts and feelings as you create the food of your home. It all goes into what you create. :)
